Excuse me,I m sorry to bring this up but there doesn t seem to be any hot water in my room.”

Excuse me. Well, er,I m terribly sorry, but I m afraid you re in my seat.”

I m sorry,sir,no smoking in this section.”

I m sorry,i haven t got any change.”

Can t you look where you re going?

“Congratulations!” 如“Well done”、“Fantastic”或“Terrific”。而当上司得到晋升,我们向他道贺时,就应该使用更正式的句子,如“Please accept my warmest congratulations on your promotion.”

agree with... 同意……

I don t think anyone would disagree with that.

Are you...?

I think...

I think I ll go along with your proposal.

I think we should accept John s suggestions.

I m of the same opinion.

I m of the same idea as you.

You re Right

A:So Tom,if you put yourself into my shoes, what would you do?

B:Now I think if you want to settle down and raise a family,Canada is a better place. They have a better education system. The facilities are efficient and going to college is comparatively less expensive and easier.

A:That s true. But I heard the unemployment rate is quite high there.

B:Yes,the national jobless rate reaches almost 9%.But if you can get a job there, raising a family is not a big problem because the property prices are very low compared to those here. And basic necessities are also less costly. But putting everything aside, the decision rests on how you want to live your life.

A:What do you mean?

B:Well,I ve lived in Canada for a few years. To summarize the experience,I d say it s a very good place to settle down and raise a family. But it s not a good place to start a career or make lots of money.

A:You re right.Maybe I should stay here and work hard, save some money and spend my retirement there.

I m Not Sure

A:Do you agree that Australian English and British English are very similar?

B:I m not sure.

A:What s your opinion then?

B:I d say that they re very different. It s true that Australians speak English, but even people from Britain and America find it difficult to understand their accent.

A:Well, you re right there, but not all Australians speak with a strong accent.

B:Really?

A:Yes,you see, generally speaking, the more highly educated they are,the less typically Australian is their speech.

B:Yes,I quite agree with you.

I don t believe your idea is a good one.

如:“I m the worst pingpong player.”

Disagreement 反对

I can t accept...

I m afraid I can t accept your argument.

I can t accept that.

You can t...

You can t be serious.

You can t mean that!

I m afraid...

I m afraid I can t give my approval.

I m afraid I can t agree.

I m afraid I have a different opinion.

I m afraid I don t share your opinion.

You don t know...

You don t know what you re talking about.

You don t know up from down.

I don t think...

I don t think it s very practical.

I don t think much of this novel.

I Don t Know Much About It

A:What do you think of the selection of the Special Awards Program?

B:I don t know much about it, so I have nothing to say.

A:I think it s all right. They are chosen from among many.

B:But I don t agree with the decision.

A:Why?

B:Because I don t think it fair. The really top figures are excluded.

A:How could they do a thing like that?

B:Who knows?

A:Too bad! But, it s no use arguing here. Let s agree to disagree.

That s out of the Question

A:Someone needs to buy some ice cream for dessert?

B:Yes,absolutely.

A:OK.Then, why don t you go out and get some while I m laying the table?

B:No! That s out of the question. If you stay here, you ll be able to watch the beginning of the football game and I ll miss it.You know I m a football fan,and it s I that cooked the dinner. So I think the best compromise is that you go out and get the ice cream. How about it?

A:I hear what you re saying.Do you want me to miss out on the biggest game of the year? No way!

B:Not the whole game, but the beginning. What about this? I ll do the washingup if you go out and buy it.

A:You got yourself a deal.

I m sorry, I disagree with you there. I don t think that s the way with it.

This works against common sense. I don t go along with it for one minute.

You Know What

A:You know what?

B:What?

A:You remind me of my English teacher at high school.

B:Do I?

A:Yes.Both of you are bald.

B:Get out of here. You are just laughing at me.

A:No,I mean it.You look just like my English teacher.

Careful

A:Careful,Tom.Don t walk so fast.

B:Huh?

A:The stairs have just been mopped. They re very slippery.

B:Oh,thank you for the warning.

A:Do mind your step.

What do you think of it?8怀疑

所以当你问美国售货员:“How much is it?”而他们的回答是“A buck”时,你可别说:“Oh,dear,how expensive!”(噢,上帝!

在家人、朋友面前表示忧虑时,常用“I m scared.”、“ I m worried sick.”或“ I m in a flap ”等Informal Expressions。 或“ I have(serious)misgivings about……” 或“ I find…… worring”等。

见到衣服整洁、穿着得体的男士可以说:“You are so smart today!”(你今天真帅!)遇到女士可以说:“You are so pretty today!”(你今天真漂亮!)

如:Be a man.(拿出点勇气来。) He laughs best who laughs last.(谁笑在最后,谁笑得最甜。) That is better than I could do.(这比我所能做的要好。)。
