阿尔弗莱德·丁尼生Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)，英国维多利亚时代最走红的大诗人。丁尼生继承浪漫派诗人华兹华斯、拜伦和济慈的传统，同时受到古希腊、罗马文学的影响。他早期的诗作清新、生动，富于想象力。著名诗篇《尤利西斯》描述年老的尤利西斯追求新境界的永不止息的精神。1833年他的挚友早逝，他经过17年的构思，写成组诗《悼念》表示纪念。这个组诗被认为是英国文学中最优秀的哀歌之一，给作者带来极大的声誉。维多利亚女王因而与他结交，并封他为宫廷桂冠诗人。
泪水，无端地流，我不知道为了什么，
从某种神圣而绝望的深渊，

作品赏析
泪水——伤心的象征。诗人借物抒情，对泪水的描写，实质就是内心痛苦的诉说。眼泪，来自绝望的深渊，“第一缕阳光”表达了作者想要从痛苦中解脱出来，可还是“沉入天际”，这无疑是一种无奈与困苦。最后一句又深情刻画了诗人对过去恋情的追思与不舍。诗篇短小，联想丰富。
