爱德加·爱伦·坡Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849)，美国诗人、小说家、批评家，美国文学史上的“鬼才”。他命运十分坎坷，贫病交加，患有神经衰弱症。
他的著作有诗集《帖木儿》《艾尔·阿拉夫》《诗集》，诗中大多是古怪、病态的形象，气氛诡谲而神秘，处处表现出对世俗的反抗。他认为诗应该以美为目标，写诗应该严格遵守格律。文艺既不是客观现实的反映，也不是作家内心世界的抒发，而是一种所谓“纯艺术”，为了创造某种“预定的气氛”而给人以“美的享受”。他的诗对象征派诗人产生了重大影响，被尊为唯美主义和现代派诗歌的开山鼻祖。
很久很久以前，
在海边的一个国度里
住着一位或许你也认识的少女，
她叫安娜贝尔·利。
她单纯天真地活着，
只愿与我相爱，长相厮守。
那时，我们还只是孩子，
在那海边的国度里；
但我们的真爱，天地难寻——
我和我的安娜贝尔·利——
让那天上的六翼天使
也心生嫉妒。

在这个海边的国度，

作品赏析
诗中描述了一位女子，单纯天真，只愿与“我”长相厮守。“我们”一起快乐生活的美好情景，令人嫉妒。可是后来，美丽的“她”随风而逝。一切都不重要，因为“我们”的灵魂永远在一起，梦中的“她”，双眸明亮，再长的夜晚，也有“她”相伴。就算是在坟墓中，“我”也心甘情愿。本诗情节鲜明，引人入胜。
